World Environment Day, June 5th, 2025

ree

Established by the United Nations in 1972, World Environment Day is a global, annual observance shining a spotlight on key environmental issues.

And no day dedicated to safeguarding our environment would be complete without a shout out to our native wild bird populations. As pollinators and seed spreaders, insect and rodent control, and the

best environmental clean-up crews around, wild birds play a key role in keeping our environment healthy. Our pledge is to help keep them healthy in return, giving second chances to the injured, sick and orphaned who come to us for care.

Babies, babies and more babies! There are literally hundreds of baby birds in our care right now, with 20 or more new patients admitted each and every day. From hummingbirds to Great Horned Owls, these young ones fill ten different wards and require feeding every 30-45 minutes.

June is typically the busiest month of Baby Bird Season, and the first two weeks in June the busiest of the month. This year is shaping up to be no exception!

How grateful we are for dedicated volunteers who, hour after hour feed, feed, feed. Take a look at some of the cuties we have in care right now!

You Touch The Very Life of BRC! We are fortunate to be part of such a caring community. Every spring, we share a particularly touching story that highlights both the work we do and the ways in which you leave your indelible mark. Some of you volunteer. Others provide donations of food, medical equipment and other necessary supplies. Still others give generously to fund our work.

In reality, though, every bird who recovers to soar through our skies once again does so because someone like you stepped up.

This spring, our appeal letter features a beautiful young Great Horned Owl.

Click here to read her story. We hope to inspire your continued support!

We recognize the vital role you play in our work. Together, we save lives. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
