Gearing Up For Baby Bird Season It's Our Annual Online Baby Shower!

At the beginning of each new season, we need to stock up on supplies in preparation for the arrival of all the babies. Our wish list is filled with essential items—nutritious food for orphaned nestlings, medical supplies for injured raptors, and cozy habitats for recovering songbirds.

In addition to our list, there is one more desperately needed item: a new dryer. Just like their human counterparts, baby birds generate lots of laundry!

Over the years, load after load has taken its toll on our current dryer. So we have our eye on a new one, and hope you will consider helping with the purchase. It's a heavy duty, Speed Queen model with a large capacity and settings for sanitization, and a Pet Plus cycle to remove feathers and fuzz. This new dryer will cost approximately $2,500.

The Wait Is Over—We Have An Egg!

As we await the arrival of this year's first babies, we're also watching Ambassadors Jazz and Vihar who have been brooding. Both lay eggs just like their wild counterparts, however being unfertilized, their eggs won 't hatch. Since beginning their brood several weeks ago, we've all been guessing which one will lay first.

Many of you participated in our online poll predicting which of our divas would be the first to lay her egg. If you guessed Jazz, you are correct!

Holly, one of our Ambassador Educators, showed incredible courage in capturing this picture of Jazz to confirm she was, indeed, sitting on an egg. As her expression suggests, while brooding Jazz becomes extremely hormonal and aggressive. It takes a brave soul, indeed, to breach the boundaries of her aviary.

Vihar's watch continues as we expect her to also produce an egg any day now. Both ladies will remain on maternity leave for up to four weeks, after which we will gently remove their eggs so they can return to their normal temperaments and resume their Ambassador duties.

	̶S̶a̶t̶u̶r̶d̶a̶y̶,̶ ̶F̶e̶b̶r̶u̶a̶r̶y̶ ̶2̶8̶ OPEN HOUSE POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER Love Is In The Air—but unfortunately, so are rain, wind and hail. Having consulted with the weatherman, we are postponing our Love Is In The Air Re-Open House, originally scheduled for the end of this month. Watch this space for updates once we reschedule. Our Ambassadors look forward to welcoming you back as soon as possible and can't wait to show you all the changes and improvements we've made!
	Saturday, March 7 - 10am to 4pm Sonoma County Fairgrounds A one-day, free community science festival that will spark curiosity and wonder in young and old alike. Explore 150+ interactive exhibits, from rockets to beehives, robots to sharks, to catapults, animation, animals, art, and more. Admission and parking are free, and no tickets are required. Rain or shine.
	Saturday, March 14 - 11am to 1pm 71 Brookwood Avenue, Santa Rosa Join our Ambassadors and our Education Team at Wild Birds Unlimited as they auction a limited edition print of 'Vulture' by local artist Jim Simmons. All proceeds will be donated to BRC! Learn about the amazing but often misunderstood Turkey Vulture species as you stock up on bird seed and enter your bid—if the winning bid is yours, you'll be taking home a Turkey Vulture of your very own!
