Bird Rescue Center
Board Member Interest Questionnaire

As a Board member, you will be instrumental in creating our long-term vision for the future as well as shepherding the construction and development of both the new center and our educational programs and activities.

The Bird Rescue Center (BRC) was incorporated in 1976 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit for the purpose of rescuing and rehabilitating sick, injured and orphaned native wild birds. Today it is considered one of the premiere rehabilitation organizations in Northern California dedicated to all species of native wild birds. Licensed by both Federal and State of California Departments of Fish & Wildlife, we treat approximately 3,000 birds annually, serving a five-county area comprised of Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, Napa and Marin counties.

Our education program targets children and adults alike, teaching them about the critical role these birds play in maintaining our environment and encouraging them to become better stewards for these vital components of our local ecosystems. In recent years, our area has been impacted by devastating wildfires and prolonged drought followed by short bursts of flooding. The effects of climate change are threatening both humans and wildlife alike.

The Bird Rescue Center is governed by a volunteer Board of officers and directors. BRC endeavors to reflect the diversity of the community and those it serves in the composition of its Board. It is a dynamic organization with a distinguished reputation for over 40 years of exemplary service.
