About the event
Just Four Hours A Week Will Make A Huge Difference!
And it just might be your most rewarding experience ever!
Volunteers are the heart and soul of BRC. And it won’t be long before hundreds of birds start showing up each month in need of our care. You can participate in the life-saving work that returns thousands of birds back to the wild!
If you are 13 years or older, are not immune-compromised and can commit to working at least one 4-hour shift each week through August, you are eligible to attend our New Volunteer Orientation to see how you can make a truly life-saving difference. This is a serious commitment, and the orientation will provide the information you need to decide if being a BRC Volunteer is right for you.
Volunteer opportunities include working in our rehab hospital, joining our phone and admissions team, training for field rescue, becoming part of our release team, providing transportation for birds, participating in education and outreach activities, helping with landscaping and maintenance, assisting with data entry, and more. There are so many ways to participate and each one of them is both important and rewarding!
Please Note:
Due to the contamination precautions necessitated by the continued presence of HPAI (the avian flu), we will be hosting this orientation in our outdoor education area to the right of the main building. It will be followed by an abbreviated tour of the rehab hospital's outdoor aviary area. Please dress warmly and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes appropriate shoes for uneven, outdoor surfaces.
